With featured guitar from Cheili Minucci and production credits by Skinny Hightower, ‘The Pulse’ by Australian sax-man Gary Honor very much keeps things in the Trippin n Rhythm family. In fact Gary made his label debut in 2012 with the album ‘Heads & Tales’ which at the time I described as being the real smooth jazz deal and a lifetime away from 2004 when Honor journeyed from his native country to Fort Lauderdale for a vacation aboard the Warren Hill Smooth Jazz Cruise. Whilst on board Gary entered the cruise ‘star search’ which had been created to find smooth jazz talent from amongst the paying passengers and under the watching gaze of some of the finest musicians the genre had to offer, he duly won.
Since then Gary has gone on to work with many of the world’s greatest musicians including The Real Thing, James Morrison, Chuck Loeb, Paul Brown, Brian Simpson, Darren Rahn, Jackiem Joyner, Peter White, Oli Silk and Cindy Bradley. Currently he is working with the Royal Australian Navy Band as well as performing regularly as a soloist with DJs, the soul band Bump City, The Never-Ending 80’s Tribute Show and with his own smooth jazz-fusion band.
As for ‘The Pulse’ it is a zesty Latin tinged number that lays a platform for more new releases later in 2020.
