Composer and keyboard player Nate Harasim has been around for sometime. I described his 2008 DeNate vehicle ‘Reminisce’ (for which he partnered with vocalist Deborah Connors) as being arguably the best contemporary jazz release of that year and since then both with his own work and contributions he has made to Grammy nominated projects for major artists his name has remained in the forefront of contemporary jazz. Now he is back with the album ‘Shades Of Nate’ on the always-excellent Woodward Avenue Records.
The lead single is the zesty ‘Summertime Fun’ for which the title tells you all you need to know and includes upbeat solos from sax-man Darren Rahn and trumpeter Lin Rountree.
