Peak Records and the Concorde Music Group have announced the signing of smooth jazz sax sensation Jessy J. Her Paul Brown produced debut CD ‘Tequila Moon’ is scheduled for release in early 2008 and is promised to include a quality mixture of original tunes and choice covers. In fact, Jessy J first grabbed the attention of Smooth Jazz Therapy when she guest performed on the title track of Paul Brown’s current smash CD ‘White Sand’ and it was while playing with Brown’s live band that he agreed to lend his production genius to her solo project. Most of the recordings were cut live with the entire band in the studio and, with Brown creating a comfortable working environment, the entire creative process was cranked into overdrive.
The album includes the Jessy J originals ‘Tequila Moon’, ‘Sin Ti-With Out You’, ‘Fiesta Velada’, ‘Running Away’ and ‘PB n J’ while other original compositions come courtesy of Donald Hayes ‘Spanish Nights’ and Kiki Ebsen’s ‘Turquoise Street’. Jessy J grew up speaking Spanish and was always entranced by the Samba rhythms of her Mexican-American childhood. Consequently, the inclusion of ‘Beasame Mucho’, and ‘Mais Que Nada’ represents, for her, something of a musical homecoming.
Jessy J’s arrival at Peak Records adds to their already considerable roster of smooth jazz talent. With Gerald Albright, Norman Brown and Paul Brown already on board the label is all set to cement its position as a leader in the genre.
