When, in 2004, Peter White released his CD ‘Confidential’ many considered it to be his finest work to date and a hard act to follow. The good news is that by changing gears and reaching back to a concept first tried with his 1994 release ‘Reflections’ he has again come up a winner. ‘Reflections’ was a handsome collection of cover songs and when White went through some of his original demos for that recording he found the unused ‘For The Love Of You’. It made him wonder if there might be a whole new album waiting to be made and ‘Playin Favorites’, released on June 27, is proof positive that there was. Using mobile equipment, White recorded much of the CD while on the road with the 2005 Jazz Attack show and, after that tour ended, he called Paul Brown to help finish the album. The result is a highly polished and eclectic mix that is characterized both by that unmistakable Peter White sound and a stunning array of guest performers.
