Some sounds are etched into the fabric of contemporary jazz and one such example of this is the vibe that has been routinely produced by the wonderful Rippingtons over the past thirty years.
Despite being true pioneers of the genre they are sounding as fresh as ever and, as if to prove it, will release their latest album, ‘True Stories’, on June 24.
‘True Stories’ was recorded over an intensive three-month period and, as well as delighting the band’s devout and loyal fans will surely attract new ones. Of course front back and center of the Rippingtons is guitarist Russ Freeman who this time around is joined by original Rippington alto and soprano saxophonist Brandon Fields, drummer Dave Karasony, bassist and Rhodes player Rico Belled and special guest Jeffrey Osborne.
The album opens with the scintillating ‘Wild Tales’ that also happens to be the first single. It is a real gem and well worth checking out
